Belle Sol (formerly Empower Her)

Belle Sol, formerly Empower Her, is a non-profit dedicated to empowering women and girls. To enhance outreach and impact, we developed an innovative social and fundraising strategy. This included a targeted social media campaign, a structured content calendar, unique subscription boxes, and organized fundraising events, all designed to engage our audience and generate crucial resources and awareness.

Advancing Fundraising Through Social Media Strategy

Belle Sol was gearing up for three major fundraising occasions that would support the non-profit’s GIRLS Scholarship: Giving Tuesday, International Day of the Girl, and the annual “Shop, Bid & Socialize” event featuring female entrepreneurs and vendors. To promote these events effectively, we focused on strengthening the non-profit's social media presence, using Instagram and Facebook as primary platforms for raising awareness and engagement.

This process began with crafting a cohesive content calendar for the months leading up to the events, highlighting vendors, and featuring pre-promotional content for Giving Tuesday and International Day of the Girl created in Canva. Additionally, we strategically utilized relevant hashtags related to the non-profit and its mission to amplify information and details effectively.

We also enhanced our story postings and curated highlights, focusing specifically on events, scholarships, bios, quotes, and overall inspirational content. Throughout the process, we incorporated the non-profit's branded colors and design elements to maintain a cohesive visual identity.

To prepare for Belle Sol's main, in-person fundraising event, "Shop, Bid & Socialize," we actively engaged with numerous local businesses to compile donor lists and create diverse, attractive raffle baskets. Collecting these donations was essential for funding the non-profit's GIRLS Scholarship and demanded time, organization, and ongoing planning.

Leading up to the event, we visited local businesses, pitched the opportunity, and gauged interest levels until we collected enough products to assemble compelling bundled baskets for the silent auction component of the event (pictured on the left).

Throughout the five-hour event, attendees had the chance to shop from local vendors indoors and place bids outside the main doors at any time until winners were announced.

Results

With an initial fundraising goal of $900 for Belle Sol’s GIRLS Scholarship, our efforts during Giving Tuesday, International Day of the Girl, and the "Shop, Bid & Socialize" event surpassed expectations, exceeding our financial goal by hundreds of dollars. This success enabled additional funding for future scholarships and programming that would further benefit young girls and women.
